All About Bearded Dragon Lizards

Testimonials about the bearded dragon lizard prove its good-natured attribute. It is gentle, trusting, and friendly. It is not afraid of people, especially upon constant exposure. It is harmless which makes it submissive to its master. Its size is perfect as a little buddy in everyday activities. It creeps and rests on the arms, hands, and shoulders of individuals. This is its cuddling gesture to the immediate anticipator. Indeed, it is a fun companion.

Several tales have been told about dragons playing either as antagonists or protagonists. All these are but fictions as products of the creative minds of authors. The world authored life-stories of dragons for real, this time around. Here is one interesting account on the bearded dragon lizard.

The Lead Character

Bearded dragon lizards are reptile creatures grazing in the deserts of Australia. They are found in hot rocky habitatwhere these species naturally thrive. They appear smart-looking in their attentive orientation. Inherent in reptiles, they have somewhat thick outer covering. They are not as huge as their dungeon dragon counterparts in legends. They only measure up to a maximum of two to three feet.

Do dragons really have beards? The creature’s name is interesting as it is a description by itself. The reptile has this habit of blowing out the portion under its jaw. In turn, that section turns black which looks like a beard. This tendency is sometimes accorded with the breeding season. It is also a defense mechanism as a response to possible threats.

The Feeds

There is a variety of feeding measures on the bearded dragon lizard. This reptile is omnivorous unlike the rest of its clan. It has a flexible meal which may include meat from insects, and hydrated fruits and vegetables. The ideal proportion is that meat should dominate the meal over fruits and vegetables per serving. These comprise its diet within a day.

Insects such as crickets, roaches, and superworms are the common food served. The tiny edible creatures provide for the calcium, protein, and fat needed by these omnivore dragon lizards. Moreover, calcium-friendly fruits and vegetables are prescribed for them. These are those with low oxalate and phosphorus. Advisable veggies are alfalfa, celery, peas, berries, and the like. Also, maintain a calcium supplement available in pulverized form. All these will keep them healthy and energetic.

The Build Up

Artificial homes for pets should be close to their natural habitat. The bearded dragon lizard dwells on Australian deserts. Bringing that location in a miniature tank will take some creative effort from a pet lover. There are available ornaments in pet shops to set up its hub.

The temperature on the tank should be kept high. In case the environment at home does not permit, there are heat-emitting bulbs available. Some rocks will help to absorb heat needed by the mini-dragons’ bodies. Sand, reptile carpet, or newspapers may form the base of the tank. These are simple and safe flooring to manage poops and avoid impaction.
