Komodo dragons are stored with toxic saliva which helps to break down their food. Komodo dragons are known to eat the meat of other dead animals but they also like to hunt other living breathing animals. A really important fact is this lizard is one of many lizards that use its tongue to seizure scent particles. Their tongue also helps lizards to target prey and hunt down. Once an animal is bitten by a Komodo dragon they are definitely on the verge of being gulped. The bite of this fearsome creature is lethal and is stored with dangerous venom, bacteria. If a prey runs away from a Komodo dragon once bitten it won’t survive too long. A komodo dragon’s saliva is stored with so many bacteria that once it’s bitten the flesh of an animal. That animal is likely to pass away soon and about twenty four hours of being bitten the animal will pass away due to blood poisoning due to the deadly bacteria from the saliva of the Komodo dragon.

Surprisingly they can also run at speeds of thirteen miles per hour. However they rely more on stealth and use their power more than their speed. They also have decent vision but komodo dragons rely heavily on smelling the air in order to hunt prey. With powerful jaws and throat they are capable of gulping large amounts of chunks of meat speedily.

Komodo dragons mate mostly during may and august. Leading males are known to fight each other over female komodo dragons in order to have the right to mate. They use their tales and battle with one and another. Female dragons can lay about twenty eggs and much more.

Komodo dragons have been reported to attack, kill and eat people astonishingly. This large lizard can store loads of energy and reserve it for rapid burst of runs when needed most. Komodo dragons have a life span of thirty years and they like to remain single through out their long life. This amazing large lizard is the only lizard in the world that hunts and preys on large animals. They are becoming extinct due to natural disasters, poaching and human violation.
